The external ears are acoustics structures that help us to hear, but, because they are located at each side of our face and in the front of the hair implantation, they become anatomical structures with well established aesthetic parameters, that indicate the harmony and beauty of our face. 

In the exhaustive seek of harmony, many surgical techniques have been proposed, which are capable of modifying the shape, projection and size of the external ears. All these techniques are capable of transforming the characteristics of the ears: 

a.      If the external ears are too big, they can be cut. 

b.      If there the projection is exaggerated, also known as cupped ears, it is possible to be corrected modifying the position and size of the auricular shell. 

c.      If there is an alteration in the shape of the ear, if they are flat or the ear’s folds are not very well defined, it can be solved by re-shaping the ears.

The surgery is performed in the doctor’s office or in the operating room. If the patient is an adult it can be done under local anesthesia in the doctor’s office, but if the patient is a child, it will be performed in the operating room with the help of our anaesthesiologist. I perform Otoplaties in patients 5 year or older. This treatment is an out patient procedure, during the post operative the patient will wear small bandages over the ears, and can return to normal activity 3 days after the surgery.

Results are guaranteed, but because of this, the post operative care the patient has is very important. This is a simple procedure which offers great changes, of great satisfaction for the patient and his or her family.
